Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Research Specialist with a strong background in SAS for a contract position. This role requires deep expertise in SAS to manage and analyze complex data sets, perform rigorous data validation, and support research initiatives. The position is hybrid, with the candidate required to be based in the Austin area. Applications from outside Austin will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities:
Utilize advanced SAS skills to process and review complex research and program data requests.
Conduct thorough data validation and user acceptance testing (UAT) for the SHARP database, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
Manage and query agency data sources, applying SAS to verify that Snowflake tables are correctly populated and that dashboard products meet all program rules and data use agreements.
Collaborate closely with principal investigators and other stakeholders to facilitate the timely coordination of institutional review board (IRB) processes and data delivery.
Report directly to the Director of the Health Information Resources Unit.
Major Duties:
Lead the processing of research requests, particularly those requiring advanced SAS analysis and IRB documentation.
Validate program user stories and ensure that outputs generated through SAS meet project objectives.
Apply SAS to perform complex queries, ensuring data sets are correctly populated and analyzed.
Confirm the accuracy and consistency of data presented in dashboards, using SAS to align with program rules.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Extensive experience with SAS, including advanced programming, data management, and analysis.
Proficiency in SQL and a solid understanding of database management principles.
Strong knowledge of statistical methods and their application to research analysis.
Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative research and in using statistical tools for data analysis.
Ability to write detailed and effective reports based on SAS-generated data.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead research initiatives.
Excellent communication skills, particularly in explaining complex SAS-driven findings to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work effectively within a team and engage with a variety of audiences, including partners and stakeholders.
Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations related to research activities and data management.
