About the Role:
GSG Talent Solutions is hiring a Purchasing & Procurement Specialist to support the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). This is a contract position scheduled to start April 1, 2024, and run through August 31, 2025, with the potential for extension. The role involves assisting with the procurement of commodities, equipment, and services while ensuring compliance with state procurement principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in purchasing and procurement of goods and services for TCEQ programs.
- Evaluate bids and ensure compliance with state procurement regulations.
- Identify and maintain supply sources to optimize cost and quality.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases and vendor interactions.
- Utilize state-used applications such as USAS and CAPPS for procurement management.
- Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Perform arithmetical computations and financial analysis related to purchases.
Required Qualifications (Deal Breakers):
✅ Knowledge of:
- State procurement methods, procedures, and regulations
- Purchasing and supply chain management principles
- Business administration and accounting fundamentals
✅ Skills in:
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Using Adobe, Word, Excel, USAS, and CAPPS
- Managing vendor and supplier relationships
- Performing arithmetical computations for bid evaluations
✅ Ability to:
- Evaluate bids and contracts for cost-effectiveness
- Develop efficient procurement procedures
- Maintain organized and accurate records
- Communicate effectively and collaborate with vendors and teams
