Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay: $84.42 per hour
About the Role:
GSG Talent Solutions is seeking a highly qualified State Agency Psychological Consultant (SAPhC) for a contract role supporting a Texas state agency. This full-time, onsite opportunity plays a critical role in evaluating and reviewing Social Security disability claims involving mental health conditions.
As an SAPhC, you will apply expert-level clinical judgment and psychological knowledge to determine eligibility for disability benefits under federal SSA guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct highly advanced disability determination mental case reviews in compliance with Social Security Administration (SSA) disability regulations.
- Ensure each case file is thoroughly documented, factually accurate, and includes rational conclusions based on the evidence presented.
- Reconcile conflicting evidence and explain the reasoning used in evaluating the medical and psychological findings.
- Clearly indicate the effect of mental impairments on an individual’s work capacity.
- Collaborate closely with disability determination specialists and provide expert insights into case development.
- Maintain confidentiality and data security standards while working on SSA's secure systems and networks.
Required Qualifications:
- Licensed or certified psychologist at the independent practice level by the State of Texas.
- Must meet one of the following educational/experience pathways:
- Hold a doctorate in clinical psychology from an accredited educational institution recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
- Be listed in a national register of health service providers in psychology approved by the SSA Commissioner.
- Have two years of supervised clinical experience, including at least one-year post-master’s degree in a health service setting.
- Must be able to pass HSPD-12 (Homeland Security Presidential Directive) security clearance.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior work with SSA or disability determination services (DDS).
- Exceptional written communication and critical thinking skills.
- Strong ability to work independently and meet strict federal timelines.
Additional Information:
This position is onsite in Austin, TX and requires daily presence at the designated work location. SSA-provided technology and secure systems will be used for all job-related functions.
