We are seeking a Program Specialist VI for a contract position to support in planning and coordinating critical public health initiatives.

Position Overview
The Program Specialist VI will play a key role in planning, developing, and managing content and logistics for the 2025 and 2026 Texas Epidemiology Conferences. This position will also support the development and deployment of a statewide Epidemiology Field Experience to strengthen disease surveillance and public health capabilities.
This is a hybrid role, requiring the candidate to report to the central Austin office as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conference Planning:
    • Identify and secure venues across the state.
    • Develop conference agendas and content.
    • Recruit and coordinate with speakers.
    • Arrange travel and lodging logistics.
    • Design and maintain conference webpages and manage registration processes.
  • Field Experience Coordination:
    • Collaborate with leadership to develop a curriculum aligned with the 2023 Applied Epidemiology Competencies.
    • Establish goals and objectives for participants.
    • Coordinate logistics for deploying epidemiologists across the state.
    • Foster relationships with public health partners and identify best practices for statewide implementation.
Qualifications and Preferences:
  • Required:
    • Experience in program planning, logistics, or similar project management roles.
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Preferred:
    • Background in public health, disease surveillance, or epidemiology.
    • Master’s in Public Health (MPH) or equivalent public health degree.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale events and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
