Program Specialist VI (Contract Position)

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

We are currently seeking a Program Specialist VI for a contract position with one of our governmental partners.
Job Description:
As a Senior Legislative and Technical Assistance Consultant, you will perform advanced consultative and technical assistance work for the Tuberculosis and Hansen’s Disease Unit. Reporting to the Unit Director, you’ll utilize your independent judgment and expertise to manage legislative assignments, develop reports, and facilitate coordination across divisions.
Key Responsibilities:
Legislative Coordination
- Analyze, track, and ensure compliance with legislative and appropriations activities.
- Develop bill analyses, cost estimates, and operational plans.
- Communicate legislative impacts with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support rule changes, public hearings, and outreach related to tuberculosis (TB) and Hansen’s disease funding and programs.
Document Preparation and Communication
- Prepare accurate, concise materials for decision-makers and senior management.
- Develop presentations and reports on TB and Hansen’s disease topics.
- Track and manage communications, including memoranda and correspondence.
Research and Policy Monitoring
- Monitor public health trends and infectious disease developments to inform policy.
- Create briefing documents and presentations on state and federal issues.
- Apply project management principles to deliver timely, effective responses and assignments.
Additional Duties
- Support disaster response, recovery activities, and Continuity of Operations (COOP) initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet agency needs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Federal and state laws governing grants, contracts, and general revenue funds.
- Financial management, business principles, and program planning.
Skills in:
- Grant preparation and evaluation.
- Report writing and budget monitoring.
- Using computers and relevant software effectively.
Ability to:
- Adapt to constant changes and manage multiple tasks.
- Establish professional relationships and interpret complex policies.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in legislative analysis and public health policy.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle high-pressure deadlines effectively.
