GSG is looking for a Physician II (State Agency Medical Consultant) for a contract position.
This is an onsite position.
Candidates MUST be able to report daily to the office in central Austin, TX.
No applications will be accepted from candidates outside Austin and its greater surrounding areas.
Pay: $149.11 per hour (weekly pay)
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (some overtime may be available occasionally)
Job Description
A State Agency Medical Consultant (SAMC)/Physician II is a licensed physician (medical or osteopathic doctor) who is a member of the Social Security Administration (SSA) team that makes disability determinations. The SAMC is responsible for making accurate and timely physical and/or mental disability determinations on SSA disability claims based on SSA disability regulations.
Duties include:
• Performing highly advanced disability determination medical case reviews
• Ensuring the Social Security disability case is fully documented
• Reconciling conflicting evidence
• Providing sound and rational conclusions
• Explaining the weight and reasoning given to all evidence
• Clearly identifying the effect of impairments on the applicant’s work capacity
Work is performed under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and judgment.
License Requirements: Must be licensed as a physician (medical or osteopathic doctor)
Security Requirement: Staff perform all business functions for the Social Security Administration (SSA), using the federal SSA network and equipment. Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD)-12 security clearance is required.
