Position Purpose
The Permit Coordinator is a critical operational role focused on navigating the complexities of municipal submittals and regulatory approvals. The primary goal of this position is to manage the end-to-end permitting lifecycle, removing the administrative burden of municipal coordination from the principal and design leadership. By maintaining rigorous tracking and professional relationships with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), the Permit Coordinator ensures that projects move from design to construction without unnecessary delays.
Scope of Work & Responsibilities
Application Management: Prepare, audit, and submit comprehensive permit application packages for residential and light commercial projects.
Review Cycle Tracking: Actively monitor the status of all active submittals, providing real-time updates to the design and leadership teams.
Correction Coordination: Facilitate the "redline" correction process by gathering necessary technical responses from architects and engineers to resolve municipal comments.
Compliance Documentation: Maintain detailed compliance logs and permit databases to track approval timelines, fees, and historical municipal requirements.
Municipal Liaison: Act as the professional point of contact for city planners, building officials, and utility providers to expedite the review process.
Process Optimization: Research and document changing local ordinances and submittal requirements across various Central Texas municipalities to improve internal workflow.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: 2+ years of experience in permitting, land use, or construction administration is preferred.
Regional Knowledge: Familiarity with Central Texas municipal submittal processes (e.g., City of Austin, Round Rock, Georgetown) is highly advantageous.
Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret basic architectural and site plans to ensure application completeness.
Organization: Exceptional project management skills with the ability to track multiple high-priority deadlines simultaneously.
Communication: Strong professional writing and interpersonal skills for interfacing with government officials and internal stakeholders.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $55,000 – $75,000 per year.
Determination: Final salary is based on years of experience, depth of municipal relationships, and proven success in shortening permit lead times.
