Job Title: Molecular Biologist III (Experienced)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $38.82/hour (Paid Weekly)

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Molecular Biologist to join our Virology and Immunology Branch. In this senior-level role, you will perform advanced molecular testing to identify viruses in clinical samples. You'll follow strict safety standards (BSL-2 and BSL-3) and help guide the clinical virology team. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Contract Details:
This is a contracted position through GSG Talent Solutions, a leading staffing agency in Austin, Texas
Scheduled to start ASAP and continue through August 31st
At the end of the initial term, your performance and progress will be reviewed to determine eligibility for a contract extension

Key Responsibilities:
Perform complex molecular tests to detect viruses in clinical specimens
Follow established lab protocols and biosafety practices (BSL-2/3)
Track specimen progress and enter validated results into the lab system
Help develop and implement new molecular testing techniques
Maintain quality control standards and evaluate reagents
Consult with medical staff on test applications and results
Train others in molecular biology methods and safety practices
Serve as backup to the team lead as needed
Use scientific knowledge and judgment to troubleshoot and solve problems
Qualifications:
Strong background in virology and molecular biology
Skilled in operating molecular lab equipment and software
Ability to interpret complex test results and troubleshoot errors
Knowledge of CLIA/CAP regulations and quality standards
Familiar with test validation processes and contamination prevention
Able to manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and work independently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience training or supervising others in a lab setting
