About the Opportunity
GSG Talent Solutions is seeking a Molecular Biologist II to support a Texas State Agency laboratory team. This role is ideal for candidates with strong molecular biology experience, specifically in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and bioinformatics, who thrive in a structured, high-precision lab environment.
This is a hands-on laboratory role requiring attention to detail, adherence to protocols, and the ability to work independently while supporting team-driven research and testing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced molecular testing using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) techniques
- Conduct bioinformatics analysis using established pipelines and software
- Follow standard and developmental laboratory protocols to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment
- Apply microbiology techniques in laboratory processes
- Ensure all quality control standards and procedures are met for testing
- Assist with development and implementation of new molecular methods
- Support additional lab operations and tasks as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related field from an accredited institution
- Hands-on experience with NGS workflows and molecular testing
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and data analysis
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality control and safety protocols
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume lab environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a public health or state laboratory setting
- Familiarity with microbiology techniques
- Experience supporting research or surveillance-based lab programs
