Pay: $42.73 per hour (weekly pay)
100% Onsite – In-Lab Position

Job Summary

Seeking an experienced Laboratory Scientist to perform complex rabies diagnostic testing and virology work in a public health laboratory. This role requires hands-on experience with fluorescent antibody testing, microscopy, cell culture, and molecular techniques. Onsite laboratory work required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily rabies testing using fluorescent antibody techniques
• Prepare, stain, interpret, and report diagnostic results in LIS
• Conduct necropsy lab work including specimen processing and brain dissection
• Perform rabies strain typing and viral isolation using cell culture methods
• Support COVID-19 molecular diagnostic testing
• Participate in on-call rotations, weekends, holidays, and emergency testing
• Maintain laboratory safety, QA/QC, and regulatory compliance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoral degree in biological, clinical laboratory, chemical, or physical sciences
• OR
• Associate’s degree in laboratory science
• Education/experience substitutions allowed per CLIA 88
• Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License (or equivalent)Work Conditions

• Exposure to infectious materials
• Requires use of sharp tools and laboratory equipment
