GSG is looking for an Information Specialist I Entry for a contract position. 
 
This is an in-office position. Candidates MUST be able to report to the office in Austin TX
Monday through Friday 8 AM- 5 PM 
NO OUT OF AUSTIN OR SUROUNDING AREAS APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCAPTED
$25.87 An hour with weekly pay
The Information Specialist job classification series is intended for positions that are responsible for communications, media, and/or social media content. This series is not intended for positions creating educational material relating to educational programs like an Education Specialist; creating and producing graphic and multimedia designs, including illustrations, logos, layouts, and photos like a Creative Media Designer, or developing and producing multimedia projects like a Multimedia Specialist.  
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED   
  1. Develops new and refines existing content for websites, surveys, and social media.  
  2. Analyzes content for accessibility and recommends changes to make content accessible and remediate accessibility issues.  
  3. Participates in usability testing for online content, including surveys, and develops enhancements.  
  4. Conducts research, verifies sources, and ensures the completeness and accuracy of print and online materials.  
  5. Obtains art and photographs for presentations, publications, and audiovisual productions.  
  6. Performs related work as assigned.  
INFORMATION SPECIALIST I: 
  1. Performs entry‐level informational and communications work.
  2. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  3. Employees at this level may have limited experience or no experience and spend the majority of their time performing simple to routine work following standard procedures.
  4. Employees at this level may also assist others in performing work of greater complexity.  
GENERAL QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION  
  1. Experience in journalism, public relations, public information, communications, media relations, or social media work.
  2. Graduation from an accredited four‐year college or university with major coursework in journalism, public relations, advertising, communications, or a related field is generally preferred.
  3. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.  
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. For all levels Bilingual fluency or working proficiency in Spanish highly preferred.
  2. Knowledge of agency functions, policies, and procedures; communication media; various social media platforms; editing and preparing informational material; design principles; and publishing.
  3. Skill in editorial and design practices, and in the use of a computer and applicable software.
  4. Ability to research and prepare information, to design communication plans and materials related to the goals and priorities of the agency, to compose usable, optimized content for websites and social media, to prepare copy and scripts (including editing, proofreading, and compliance with agency standards), to design broad communications plans and materials, and to communicate effectively.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
