Job Description

Retail General Manager – Lead, Inspire, and Drive Success!
Are you a results-driven retail leader who thrives on creating exceptional customer experiences and maximizing operational success? Join Goodwill of Central Texas as our next Retail General Manager (RGM) and lead one of our flagship retail locations to new heights!
As the RGM, you’ll oversee every aspect of store operations—from the retail selling floor to the behind-the-scenes production processes. You’ll inspire and lead a diverse team, ensure excellence in customer service, manage inventory and merchandising, and drive financial performance, all while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
We’re looking for someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on leadership—someone who’s just as comfortable analyzing profit-and-loss statements as they are rolling up their sleeves to help the team on the sales floor.
What You’ll Do
  • Lead the daily operations of the retail store, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Oversee production flow and ensure only top-quality merchandise reaches the sales floor to maximize revenue.
  • Manage inventory levels across all merchandise lines and ensure smooth donation processing while complying with safety, security, and state regulations.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop a high-performing team in alignment with Goodwill’s policies and mission.
  • Maintain optimal staffing levels while achieving payroll budget goals.
  • Review and analyze P&L statements, making data-driven operational adjustments.
  • Ensure daily banking requirements are met and payroll is processed accurately and on time.
  • Promote a customer-first culture, resolving any concerns with professionalism and care.
  • Foster a positive team environment that reduces turnover through strong leadership, recognition, and motivation.
  • Uphold all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Who You’ll Supervise
You’ll lead a dynamic team, including the Assistant Manager, Retail Supervisor, Merchandise Processors, and Sales Associates.
What You Bring to the Table
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of retail or equivalent industry experience (with at least 2–3 years in progressive management roles).
  • Proven experience leading teams of 15+ across multiple departments.
  • Full P&L ownership and experience driving sales growth.
  • Strong leadership skills in hiring, coaching, and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and standing for prolonged periods.
  • A valid driver’s license and a high level of integrity, professionalism, and customer service.
Perks & Benefits
  • Competitive Salary: $59,165 – $70,000 per year
  • Quarterly Bonus Potential: Earn up to 25% of your salary based on:
    1. Store sales
    2. E-commerce sales
    3. Employee turnover
    4. Safety audits
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off
  • Opportunity to make a direct impact in your community through Goodwill’s mission
Work Location: In-person
Relocation: Must be able to relocate prior to starting if not already in the area
About Us:
At Goodwill of Central Texas, we believe in the power of work to transform lives. By leading one of our stores, you’re not just driving retail success—you’re helping fund programs that provide education, career training, and job placement services for individuals in our community.
