Position Overview
GSG Talent Solutions is seeking an Experienced Senior Water Resources Engineer (Engineer VI) for a long-term contract assignment supporting the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), Flood Mapping Department. This role provides senior-level technical leadership and project management support for statewide floodplain modeling and mapping initiatives.
This is a hybrid position, with remote work and occasional in-office days. Candidates must be able to report to the office in central Austin, TX as needed. Applicants must reside in Austin or the surrounding area.

Key Responsibilities
Provide senior-level technical leadership in floodplain modeling and mapping efforts
Manage and support large-scale flood mapping projects and grant-funded initiatives
Serve as a subject-matter expert in hydrology and hydraulics
Coordinate project schedules, priorities, and deliverables
Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including federal, state, and local partners
Develop, review, and implement technical policies, procedures, and engineering standards
Prepare and review scopes of work, technical reports, memoranda, and documentation
Deliver presentations to technical and non-technical audiences
Ensure high-quality customer service and compliance with agency standards
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas (minimum 5 years)
Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience in floodplain management, surface water resources, or modeling
At least 3 years of experience managing projects and/or multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
Graduate degree in a related engineering field
Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools (HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or similar)
Strong project management experience
Hydrology and hydraulics background
Experience working directly with stakeholders and customers
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Certified Floodplain Manager (preferred)
