Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Nutrition Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the dietary needs of patients, ensuring they receive optimal nutrition tailored to their health conditions. This position requires a strong understanding of nutrition and dietetics, as well as experience in patient assessment and care planning.

Duties

  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans based on patient assessments.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations to determine patients' nutritional needs.
  • Provide health coaching to patients, focusing on weight loss and overall wellness.
  • Supervise dietary department staff to ensure compliance with nutritional guidelines and standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to monitor patients' progress and adjust care plans as necessary.
  • Administer tube feeding when required, ensuring proper techniques are followed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems for effective communication within the healthcare team.
  • Utilize knowledge of physiology to educate patients about their nutritional requirements.
  • Work with geriatric patients in long-term care settings, providing specialized dietary support.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
  • Background in acute care or hospital settings preferred.
  • Familiarity with dietary department operations and long-term care experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong patient assessment skills with the ability to evaluate individual dietary needs effectively.
  • Knowledge of health coaching principles and techniques for promoting healthy lifestyle changes.
  • Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership within a healthcare environment.
  • Understanding of tube feeding procedures and related protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare team members.
  • A passion for improving patient outcomes through effective nutrition management.
