Job Title: Child Support Officer II – Experienced
Start Date: September 1, 2025
Location: 1901 Garner Field Rd., Uvalde, TX 78801

Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Experience Level: Experienced
Job Overview:
Performs routine (journey-level) child support work in support of the state’s child support enforcement program. This role involves conducting investigations to locate absent parents, determining paternity, enforcing court-ordered child support, preparing legal documents, and monitoring cases. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, effective at communication, and able to interpret and apply child support policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct investigations to locate or trace absent parents
  • Review and assess cases to develop enforcement strategies
  • Monitor child support payments and initiate enforcement actions as needed
  • Prepare legal and administrative documents to support child support actions
  • Respond to inquiries regarding case status
  • Document all case-related actions
  • Explain program policies and procedures to parents in person or in group settings
  • Attend court proceedings with legal staff and assist with document preparation and negotiations
  • May assist in negotiating agreed orders or voluntary settlements
  • Perform related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience in interviewing and/or collections related to child support
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preference given, but experience may substitute for education)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of child support laws and investigative techniques
  • Strong computer and documentation skills
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate case information
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
