Child Support Officer II, Experienced (208)
Job Description
Start Date: September 1, 2025
Location: 1901 Garner Field Rd., Uvalde, TX 78801
Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Experience Level: Experienced
Performs routine (journey-level) child support work in support of the state’s child support enforcement program. This role involves conducting investigations to locate absent parents, determining paternity, enforcing court-ordered child support, preparing legal documents, and monitoring cases. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, effective at communication, and able to interpret and apply child support policies and procedures.
- Conduct investigations to locate or trace absent parents
- Review and assess cases to develop enforcement strategies
- Monitor child support payments and initiate enforcement actions as needed
- Prepare legal and administrative documents to support child support actions
- Respond to inquiries regarding case status
- Document all case-related actions
- Explain program policies and procedures to parents in person or in group settings
- Attend court proceedings with legal staff and assist with document preparation and negotiations
- May assist in negotiating agreed orders or voluntary settlements
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Experience in interviewing and/or collections related to child support
- High school diploma or equivalent (preference given, but experience may substitute for education)
- Knowledge of child support laws and investigative techniques
- Strong computer and documentation skills
- Ability to analyze and evaluate case information
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
