Job Overview:
Performs routine (journey-level) child support work in support of the state’s child support enforcement program. This role involves conducting investigations to locate absent parents, determining paternity, enforcing court-ordered child support, preparing legal documents, and monitoring cases. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, effective at communication, and able to interpret and apply child support policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct investigations to locate or trace absent parents
Review and assess cases to develop enforcement strategies
Monitor child support payments and initiate enforcement actions as needed
Prepare legal and administrative documents to support child support actions
Respond to inquiries regarding case status
Document all case-related actions
Explain program policies and procedures to parents in person or in group settings
Attend court proceedings with legal staff and assist with document preparation and negotiations
May assist in negotiating agreed orders or voluntary settlements
Perform related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in interviewing and/or collections related to child support
High school diploma or equivalent (preference given, but experience may substitute for education)
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of child support laws and investigative techniques
Strong computer and documentation skills
Ability to analyze and evaluate case information
Effective written and verbal communication skills
